I have talked to many massage therapists over the past few years who have stepped away from the massage profession, then find themselves ready to get their license back. Often they do not know where to start.
To tell you the truth, reinstating a license confuses me sometimes, too. But I do have a few things to share that I have learned from my experience of helping others get their Florida massage licenses.
My goal is to help you get your license back without a lot of stress and confusion.
If you are in this situation, you most likely want to know:
How many continuing education courses do I need?
Do I need to take the MBLEx or NCETMB exam again?
I will answer this one now – No. Your NCETMB and MBLEx scores do not expire. You may need to resubmit them, but you do not need to retake them.
Who do I contact?
What do I do next?
I promise I will get to all that, but first we need to figure out your current license status, and if it is “inactive -delinquent/active” or “null and void”.
So let’s figure that out
1. Get out your old massage license number.
2. Go here and type in your license number with the MA prefix.
3. Click – “Find Provider”
A box should load. Under the License/Activity Status it will say if your license is “delinquent/active” or “null and void” – Your goal is to get to “clear/active”.
Inactive or Delinquent/Active
If you have only missed ONE renewal period (As of this blog publish date this would be licenses that expired 8/31/2011). Your license is not valid, it is inactive or delinquent/active; meaning you failed to renew by the expiration date. With this status, you are not allowed to practice in Florida.
Here is what Florida Law says about Inactive, or Delinquent licenses:
64B7-28.0042 Requirements for Reactivation of an Inactive License.
An inactive license shall be reactivated upon demonstration that the licensee has paid the reactivation fee set forth in Rule 64B7-27.011, F.A.C., and has complied with the following requirements:
(1) As a condition to the reactivation of an inactive license, a massage therapist must submit proof of having completed the appropriate continuing education requirements as set forth in Rule 64B7-28.009, F.A.C.
Okay so here is what you need to do to get your license back:
1. Pay the reactivation fee.
2. Show proof of completing your required CE hours (# of hours varies from person to person).
After you complete those tasks, your status will change to clear/active. You will not receive a new license number. So you can use that link above to check your status during this process (Or click here).
How many hours of continuing education do you need?
That is a tricky question! It really depends on if this was your first renewal and how far we are currently into the biennial.
My recommendation is to contact the Board of Massage. Contact information, and tips about contacting the Board, are provided at the bottom of this post.
Null and Void
So what is “null and void” mean?
This means you missed 2 (or more) renewal periods.
Delinquent licenses that expired on August 31, 2009 became “null and void” on September 1, 2011.
If you let your license expire in 2011, the 2013 renewal is coming (August 31st). After that date, your license will be “null and void”.
This is what the Florida Law and Rules say about null and void licenses:
64B7-28.0042(2) However, any licensee whose license has been inactive for more than two consecutive biennial licensure cycles and who has not practiced for two out of the previous four years in another jurisdiction shall be required to appear before the Board and establish the ability to practice with the care and skill sufficient to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public. At the time of such appearance, the licensee must:
(a) Show compliance with subsection (1) above;
(b) Account for any activities related to the practice of massage therapy in this or any other jurisdiction during the period that the license was inactive and establish an absence of malpractice or disciplinary actions pending in any jurisdiction;
(c) Prove compliance with Section 456.065, F.S., and subsection 64B7-28.001(2), F.A.C.
In a way, Florida is trying to save you some money. Really. Instead of showing proof of 48 hours (or more) of continuing education and paying multiple renewal fees, you are going to need to start from the beginning. Don’t worry, most of the hard work is over.
Contact the Board of Massage to verify that this is your best option. Contact information, and tips about contacting the Board, are provided at the bottom of this post.
You will likely need to:
1. Send in new application and fee.
2. I have heard some people say that the BOM does keep your school transcript on file, as well as your NCETMB/MBLEx scores. However, I have not verified this. You should be prepared to:
Send in school transcript again.
Send in MBLEx or NCETMB Test Scores again.
3. If you have not previously taken 10 hours of Florida Massage Law and Rules, you will need to take this course as well.
You will get a brand new license number.
I have never heard of anyone needing to appear before the Board, but I am sure it happens. The law says you should be prepared to do this.
Who cannot reactivate their license?
Florida rules state:
(3) The Department shall not reactivate the license of any massage therapist who has:
(a) Committed any act or offense in this or any other jurisdiction which would constitute the basis for disciplining a licensee pursuant to Section 480.046, F.S.
(b) Failed to comply with the provisions of Section 456.034, F.S., and subsections 64B7-28.001(2) and (3), F.A.C.
Ready to Contact the Florida Board of Massage?
Contacting the Board of Massage is somewhat of an art. Below is some information you will need to provide when you call or email.
If you just send an email saying “I need my license reinstated. How do I do that?” be fully prepared for a return email with copy and pasted Florida Law and Rules. This will only add to your confusion and frustration.
To avoid that, here are some specific questions you should ask, so you can get specific answers.
You can copy and paste the below and fill in your information:
Name
MA #####
License Expired 8/31/XXXX
How many CE hours do I need if I reinstated my license?
How many of those hours need to be live / contact hours? (The remaining can be online.)
How many hours of the following courses am I required to complete? Prevention of Medical Errors, Professional Ethics, Florida Law and Rules Update?
What is the fee to reinstate my license now?

Thank You for helping to take the confusion out of reinstating my license! This article is exactly what I needed to help get it done quickly!! :)
Ivy
Hi Andrea,
I am so happy it helped! I wish you the best of luck on your return to the massage profession!
Nathera Martin
I did my practice in the Islands and did not need a Florida license that has been from The 2000 . I will like to reinstate my Florida license. What would I do from here
Ivy Hultquist
Since it has been so long, I would contact the Florida board about reactivating a Florida license.
Mark Craig
Hi Ivy,
I became an LMT back in ’96 and have not renewed. Current status is null and void. I have been on the phone with the board three times and no one can tell me what I need to do to get my license back. My school cannot give me information either (after three months of emails). I feel like I am in the Twilight Zone or something. Like I’m the first person to ever request a new license. Very frustrating. I appreciate your effort in guidance here although I’m still not sure if I need to take the exam again. Secondly, what do I do if my school does not have my transcripts? Also, who do I call at the Board to get this taken care (I’ve spoken to many people there and no one has a clue). Lastly, can you outline the cost for me (please don’t refer me to th boards page – I’ve no idea what fees pertain to me). Thanks so much for your help.
Mark
Ivy
Hey Mark!
Sorry, but I couldn’t help but laugh at your twilight zone comment. I do not have all of the answers, but maybe I can help.
First, have you tried to email the BOM? Give that a try if you have not. See if you have better luck with that route.
Like I mentioned in the blog. Be very specific about your questions.
Do I need to take an exam (If you took the old FL exam – then it is likely you will have to)?
Do I need to resend my transcript, or do you still have that in my file? If not, my school is no longer open. What do I need to do to show proof of education?
Here is my estimate on costs –
MBLEx exam- $195
App to BOM – $255 (likely you will need to reapply/start all over)
Establishment license (if applicable-getting your own place to practice) $255-ish
3 required courses on my site (10 hour FL law, 3 hour HIV, 2 hour Prev. Medical Errors) – $79 (P.S. my MBLEx study guide is half price if you buy this package)
Let me know what you find out and I will help you get started! Or let me know if you have more problems. There is not really a lot I can do, but I will try to help.
Mark Craig
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly Ivy. I’ve been their all those questions with them and like I mentioned no concrete answers. It’s just absolutely amazing to me that I cannot get my license back because of ignorance. Could you tell me the year the ‘old’ exam ceased to be? Once again, thanks for your help and have a great day Ivy!
Melissa McNaughton
Wow, Thank you so much for this information. I had wanted to get my license back for a few years (expired in 2009) but felt very discouraged because of all the confusion and bouncing around you get with the board! This was exactly what i needed and have already gotten a response from the Massage Board. Now i took the NCBTMB certification test in 2006, do you have any idea how i can get a copy of my results? i have looked on their page and even started a new acct but was unable to find how to obtain my old results. Thanks again Ivy, you are an angel!!!
Ivy
So happy to hear you are getting the answers you need to help you get your license back! The NCB changed its site and it is harder to get your results right now. You need to call them. I believe what they do is give you a login and new password. Then you can login on the site and go to your personal page and request your exam scores (and pay for them). I am pretty sure this is how it works now. Best wishes on getting back in to the field. Let me know if you have any other questions or problems.
Laura Williams
Hello Ivy,
I got my MT License in 1997 Practiced for a few years then let it expire . I was wondering if I have to retake the massage Therapy Program all together over or maybe just certain classes. How do I begin to Know? thanks for any input! Laura
Ivy
You should not have to retake much. You likely will need the 15 hours of required courses (see here), and if you took the old FL exam, you may need to take either the NCETMB or MBLEx.
The page may be a good place to start – http://www.advancedmassagetechniques.com/florida-massage-license/endorsement-package/
After you look at this you may know more what to ask the board.
Melissa McNaughton
Hello Ivy,
I just wanted to send an update on what I heard back from the Board of Massage, to help out anyone in the same situation as I. I last had my license in 2009 and as of now my status is NULL and VOID.
In order to obtain my license again I will need to pay the $155 fee and submit a new application for my license. I also need to complete the 10 hrs of. Florida Laws and Rules, 3 hours HIV/AIDS, and 2 hours Prevention of Medical Errors. The gentleman who emailed me said that they already had my transcripts and NCBTMB scores on file from my previous application and after all of the necessary paperwork is taken care of…… I will be issued my new license!!!!
I don’t know what I would have done had I not stumbled on to your website. I thought that all was lost and that all of my hard work passing the NCBTMB was for nothing. I cannot thank you enough and I hope my post is able to help out others in a similar situation.
MANY, MANY, MANY THANK YOU’S IVY!!!
Ivy
That is great, GREAT news!!!! Yay!
I am sure you already know this, but for others – I do have the 10 hrs of. Florida Laws and Rules, 3 hours HIV/AIDS, and 2 hours Prevention of Medical Errors available here.
http://www.advancedmassagetechniques.com/florida-massage-license/endorsement-package/
Melissa McNaughton
Yes ma’am, I did see them on your site and will probably go ahead and do them here! Again, you are the best Ivy!!!!
DeAnna M
Ivey and Melissa I cannot thank you enough for all of the information you provided! It wasn’t until I spent several hours researching the courses I needed to renew only to find in the end my license was null and void. Needless to say I have been chasing my tail until I came across these posts. Thank you so much, without you I am sure I would have given up entirely!
Ivy Hultquist
Happy to help!
If you do need the 10 hour law and rules course, you will need to go to my new website, http://www.floridamassage.com. There is lots more info on FL licenses there too. Let me know if you have any questions. My email, ivy@floridamassage.com, is the best place to reach me.
Aaron martin
Did you have to appear before the board?
Michelle Hincapie
Hi Ivy,
My license expired this year and I haven’t been massaging in over a year and I checked my status and it showed up as a delinquent. I’m not sure how to go about reinstating my license. What should I do?
Ivy
Hi Michelle,
Actually, you should just need to renew your license since it just expired. This is easier than reactivating. Do you have any CE hours completed and is this your first renewal? You can email that info at ivy@advancedmassagetechniques.com. I can help you find out exactly what you need to do to get your license renewed and clear.
Amy
Hi Ivy,
Thanks for this info. I just sent an e -mail off to the board since I couldn’t get a live person on the phone. I was licensed in FL in 1998 (900 hour program) but when I moved out of state and requested endorsement in my new state they wouldn’t allow it unless I retook the boards. I just didn’t have time to study for that and my esthetics boards with 2 little ones and a traveling husband. So I let my FL license lapse. I’m now looking into re activating so this info was a great help to me! I was starting to get discouraged about not being able to possibly do something I have a passion for.
Thanks much!
Ivy
Hi Amy,
Happy to hear you are able to do something you are passionate about. Having 2 little ones and a husband, I feel like I can relate to your story ;)
When you are ready to get started, here is a checklist that may have some study info for the exam and courses they will likely require you to take.
http://www.advancedmassagetechniques.com/wp-content/uploads/florida-examination-checklist.pdf
Let me know if you have any other questions! I hope you hear back from the BOM soon!
Ivy
Todd Puntolillo
Thank you so much for your information. I was told I had to go to school again to get my license back. Luckily I found you on the web. You’ve given me a possibility where things were looking dimmer the more I asked around.
Ivy
Hi Todd,
Please let me know if yo have any specific questions. You can always email me at ivy@advancedmassagetechniques.com.
ERIKA RIOS-LINDEMANN
I spoke with Licensure Support Services in Florida today. I had my original license in 1996 and it expired in 2001. They said that the state does have my transcript and tests scores on file. Yippee!!! Especially since my school is now out of business. I have to reapply and take the 15 hour CE package offered here, which I just purchased :) They said I should have my license in 14-30 days!!!!! Thank you SO much for this website! Without it, I would have been clueless and discouraged on what to do.
Ivy
Good evening, Erika-
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a message here! I am so happy to hear they have your information on file and that things are moving along so quickly.
Please let me know if you have any questions as you move through the courses. I try to make this step low stress :).
Miraha R
I found this site as I was searching how to reinstate my massage license that expired in 2009 I am beyond glad to have found this gem! I will be looking into all the great tips provided to help me on the road to reinstatement. Thanks a bunch!
Ivy
You are welcome! Let me know if you have any questions along the way!
Amber
I currently live in NY but am licensed in FL and Wouk like to go inactive how do I do that?
Ivy
Hi Amber,
Many out of state people are going inactive because of the fingerprint requirement. I have not been able to find a form for going inactive, so I would recommend calling or email the BOM and asking what would be best.
Erika Larson
Hi there, let me start off by telling you that this was a big help. My license is Null. Do I need to re-apply or do I need to go to the section where is says apply for application. and do I need to take the 10hrs of AID etc before I apply? Also, there is a Reflexology class I want to take, will that go towards CEU/s or am I even allowed to take the class until I get my license back?? I have contacted the board many time and no one seems to know the answers. Its crazy that NO ONE know these answers everytime I call. THank you!
Ivy
Hi Erika,
The board is completely backed up with the new fingerprinting requirement. It has been a disaster for anyone to call them. I don’t know what happened, but it was bad.
You need to reapply. If were licensed back when only 4 hours of FL law was required, you do need to complete the 10 hour law. If you did not have 3 hours of HIV, you should also complete that one.
I know the reflexology course will count if it is taken after your license issue date as long as it is from a BOM approved provider. If it is before your license date, I do not think it will count. You can ask the board for sure on that one, if you can get a hold of them.
Ashley
Hi Ivy,
I want to start by saying thank you for this post. I’m sure a lot of readers appreciate your post as well. I would like your opinion on my situation: I currently have a Delinquent status in FL since my license expired in August 2013. I relocated to another state which is why it became expired. I want to avoid the Null and Void status, so I’m trying to become active again. I have the required hours for 2013 but not 2015. I also know that I now need finger prints as well. Do you have any idea on the steps to take in order to renew in FL and then become licensed or transfer a license in/to TX?
Ivy
I am not sure what all the steps are to getting a TX license, but it will not be as difficult as getting an FL license. I know TX does have an online juris exam. I had to take it to be a provider there. To get your license clear in FL you need to contact the FL board to see exactly which requirements they need from you. It depends when you got your license originally. I wish I could tell you exactly, but they have someone there that is in charge of reinstatement licenses. Likely you will have between 36-48 hours to complete as well as your fingerprints. What I do not know is how many of the required hours you will need. After you hear back from the state, send me an email and I can help you get the courses in order.
gloria trinidad
my son wants to move over here to Florida but has a Pennsylvania license for massaging, how can he transfer it over here and how much would it cost him to transfer
Ivy Hultquist
Have him look over this page and see what requirements he has met – http://www.advancedmassagetechniques.com/florida-massage-license/endorsement-package/
It varies on costs, but here is an estimate –
Application $155
Fingerprinting $85
Courses $79
Transcript from school $5-50
Exam scores sent to state (from NCBTMB or FSMTB) $25 —- If he has not taken either exam, the exam costs $195 for each attempt.
State verification of license (from currently licensed state)- $25-100
Establishment license (if working in his own business) $255
Derek
Hi,
I’m looking up and wondering how to reinstate my license after I decided to “voluntary relinquished” it…… like an idiot. I haven’t been practicing for awhile and I’ve decided to do something about it and get back into helping others. I read your article and I know I could just call the board, but I’m wondering if you could just tell me if I have a shot at reinstatement or not. Any information would help my situation .
Thank you
Ivy Hultquist
Hi Derek,
I really do not see a huge problem as long as there was not any discipline against you. You likely will just have to go through the entire licensing process again. This does not mean you need to go to school or take the exam again, just go through the applications steps again.
In all honesty, I have not dealt with this situation before and these are just my thoughts. I do recommend you contact the board to verify with them what you need to do next.
Your license was not revoked, just given up. I do not think this is permanent.
Please stop back and let me know what you find out. I am sure there are others in the same boat as you that would like to hear about your experience. Thanks!
Sandra
Hi Ivy,
I apologize if your advice seems redundant. I read previous posts and it didn’t seem anyone had my same situation…. My FL license expired in 2013, since I was living up North and pregnant at the time. Just moved back to FL and would like to start practicing again. I did check and it has a “null and void”status. I took my licensing exam in FL in 2001. Will I be required to redo my exam or just the advice of hopefully they have my transcripts and exam results still?
Thank you in advance,
Ivy Hultquist
No, I understand that you don’t have time to sift through all of the comments to see if there is one just like yours. It depends on what exam you took. Did you take the old Florida exam, or the NCETMB/NCETM? If it was the old Florida exam, I would say you will need to take the MBLEx. If it was the NCETMB, NCETM, or NESL – you should not have to take another exam.
Jessica
Hello Ivy,
Thank you for giving me hope! I received my License on Sept 27, 2000. My license is null/void. You’ve given me enough info to reinstate my license; however, I also need to change my name due to a divorce in 20011 and have not had a steady place until now to change my address. My question is will they allow me to change my name back and update my address before I reinstate my license?
Thank you for your help and time!
Jessica
One more bit of information. I don’t know if it matters but My license became null and void on 8/31/ 2011.
Thank you again!
Jessica
Ivy Hultquist
Hi Jessica! Since your license is null and void, you will need to apply for a new license and get a new license number. On your application you will indicate past names that you had previously. Your background check will show them too.
Did you take the NCETMB for an exam? The old FL state exam is no longer accepted. Also, you will most likely need to take 10 hours of Florida law and Rules. Most people in 2000 only had 4 hours in school. It is available on this website. Let me know if you have other questions.
Jessica
Thank you for your help! I honestly don’t remember what the name of the exam was called. I looked up my school, The Academy of Healing Arts, but could not find it to call them. Will I need to drive to the school and see if they are still open?
Jessica
My famous last words. one more thing. :) I received my state license in the year 2000. I hope that helps with knowing if I will need to take any exams.
Thank you soooooooo much!
Jessica
Wow, I already told you that. Please excuse me.
Ivy Hultquist
I love all of these messages! If it was in the year 2000, it was likely the NCETMB. I would contact the NCBTMB and ask them to look you up. Make sure you provide the name you used to take the exam.
Jessica
Thank you! I love that you choose to help others even when it’s not necessarily your job to do! You are a blessing to me! Now, lol……. my question for you. ;) What would be the best way to contact the NCBTMB and do you happen to have that information? oh, and…… Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I would like to share this with you.
I broke my humerus on an angle from the shoulder joint down to where the belly of my bicep is on my humerus. I thank God it did not break through my skin for one simple reason (surgery)! I was told by a ortho-doc, if I did not receive this surgery that consisted of pins and plates, oh yeah, I would not have the ability to lift my arm or I would be extremely limited. I did not listen and choose to get a brace and help my arm the way I knew how, therapy. Now, I am happy to say that after 2 years of hard work I have almost no limitations and only pain when it rains! I love what I do and can’t wait to get back.
Thank you!
Jessica
Hi, it’s me again……Jessica ;) lol…., okay, so I was being lazy. I looked up the number. The # I have is 1(800)296-0664. I will let you know the good news after I call, oh and yes I will need hrs. You can help with that too! AWESOME!
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
Ivy Hultquist
Sorry! I don’t always get to the blog posts the same day, or even week- especially when the stomach bug is going around the house :(. Please let me know how it went :)
Jessica
Hi Ivy,
No worries, I hope you all feel better soon!
I called the NCBTMB. The woman was somewhat reluctant about giving me info; however, They knew who I was. The woman said she has my scores but did not specify what scores. If they have my scores then that means I took there test, correct?
One more thing ;), lol……..I don’t want anyone to think I was advising them on what to do if they break any bones. That was just my story. I am not a doctor!
Thank you!
Jessica
Hi Ivy,
Hope you’re getting rest. NO RUSH!!!!!!!!!
I want to make sure the next step I take is correct.
I did take the NCETMB test! yay! So is my next step to email the board?, name, MA#, How many Hrs etc,.. And :) , if so, what name should I provide them with? The one that’s currently on my license that’s (Null/Void) or The name they have my test scores under? I am divorced and am back to my maiden name. Maiden name I took school , tests, ect.. under. My ex-married name is on my license. OR, ah……… should I provide both and wright AKA? There’s not enough thanks in the world to give you for all your help!
Thank you!
Ivy Hultquist
I would email the board, but I assume since your license is NULL that they will just have you reapply for a new license (new number) and complete all of the licensing requirements (fingerprints, etc) that you would need to do even if you could reinstate. Your license is not delinquent, it is null, so you really usually have to reapply. You will provide old names on your application and will get a license with your new name.
Jessica
Hi Ivy,
That’s wonderfull!
Hope you and your family are feeling better!
THANK YOU! I tend to over think things. Keep me straight! LOL…… One more question :) on the application, what is LMT by endorsement vs. examination? Please excuse my ignorance.
Thank You Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo MUCH!
Ivy Hultquist
We are feeling much better. Thank you! You would be examination. Endorsement means you have a valid license in FL or another state that has similar requirements to FL. Since your license is not valid, you cannot apply as endorsement. If you had a valid license in another state with similar requirements you could. Which exam did you take to get your FL license, the NCETMB or MBLEx?
Jessica
Glad to hear you are doing well!
I took the NCETMB exam for sure. I’m afraid to ask; but, what’s that mean for me?
Jessica
opps, I wasn’t done. lol….. when I called they told me the MBLEx exam started in 2014. Is that right?
Thank you eternally
Ivy J Hultquist
That is good news. Some people took the old FL exam, which is not accepted. The ncetmb and mblex both are accepted.
Jessica
Yay! I almost can’t believe this is happening! Thank you so so much! Do I apply first then take my CE Hrs or vice versa?
Ivy Hultquist
Apply first ;)
Jessica
Thank you! I will be in touch for Hrs!
YOU HAVE CHANGED MY LIFE FOREVER IN THE BEST WAY!
Thank you for your patience and time and knowledge and…….
THANK YOU!
Loretta
Hi Ivy, my massage license has been inactive, by choice, since 2011. I’m just now researching the process of getting a florida massage license again.
I read the following in your March post to Jessica,
“Some people took the old FL exam, which is not accepted. The ncetmb and mblex both are accepted.”
I took the NCBTMB exam in 2001.
Is the NCBTMB exam currentlyrecognized by the FL Board of Massage?
If so, does it matter if my NCBTMB certification expired 6/30/2013.
I have copies of my NCBTMB passing scores and Massage School transcripts.
Thank you for your time and advice, Loretta
Ivy Hultquist
Hi Loretta,
The NCETMB is still an accepted exam in FL. It does not matter if your NCB certification is expired and the exam is no longer given. Your exam scores do not expire.
FL likely has most of your old information. You will need to complete a background screening and possibly a 10 hour law course if you have not taken one previously (the old requirement was 4 hours and I dont know when you got your license). Hope this helps.
Loretta
Thank you so much for your help.
Gilla Weiss
I was wondering if it is worth trying for me and would appreciate your honest feedback. My license expired I 1997. I have my school transcript as well as test scores I took in 1992, but from what I am reading here , I would likely need to take a new exam. Is this both the written and the practical? And I see you offer courses, would I be able do do all the necessary hours through those? I don’t know where to start…..but this post is giving me some hope, thanks!
Ivy Hultquist
You may need to take a new exam. I always suggest contacting the Board and verifying this information with them. Things change. After you find out about the exam, then we can move on to the course (10 hour law is all that is required) here – https://www.advancedmassagetechniques.com/florida-massage-license/endorsement-package/
If you find you need to take the MBLEx, here is where I suggest you start (It is my other website) – https://www.massageexamacademy.com/mblex-years-after-school/

Hi Ming Juan!
This is just how I would do it.
I would focus on getting the 2019 one done first. Was it your first renewal in 2019? If so, you may not need all 24 hours and they can all be done online. Also, you will need to pay a late fee for 2019.
Then, when you have the 2019 hours and payment done, you can work net on getting the 2021 requirements. Then you will pay the $155 renewal fee again.
I know the 2021 renewal is now open, and I am not sure if this changes how late renewals are done from 2019. The above is just my thoughts. If you need specific guidance, I would confirm the above with the board office.

Hello Ivy, I am in the process of renewing my license and I’m not sure which option would be the best for me. My license is clear/ active with the address on record being not practicing. Here is my dilemma… I don’t want to let my license go but I’m not practicing in this field at the moment: Do I leave my license as is? Can I? Do I change status to inactive or retired. Not sure what the difference is. I could return to the field in the future or not. I have taken all the required CEU’S for renewal but I need to get my prints completed again. I don’t consider myself a procrastinator but yet I find the renewal deadline quickly approaching. I called the Division Of Medical Quality Assurance and I am even more confused. Any thoughts? Thank you for any help you can provide to me, Linda

Great questions, Linda!
Inactive licenses still have to renew, so since you have your CEs done – a regular renewal may be best right now.
Getting reprinted is really quite easy – albeit a little annoying to go through. I am also not sure if you can be inactive with delinquent prints. I know you cannot be active.
These are just my opinions and you do have a lot of variables.

I also believe it is harder to come back from retired status than inactive status. Retired statuses cannot be easily “renewed”.

Thank you so much Ivy

Hello Ivy,
Asking for a friend, if her massage license is revoked, is there any way she can reinstate it? If not, is she able to get a medical license in nursing?

I would contact a professional license lawyer in Florida. They would be able to help you answer these questions. I am going able to make some guesses and assumptions.
