Changes to the Florida Massage License Renewal Process

October 17, 2012 by Ivy Hultquist

The Florida Department of Health (DOH) and the Division of Medical Quality Assurance (MQA) have launched a new website to help guide massage licensees through the new renewal process.

So, what has changed for the license renewal process?

The Florida Department of Health (DOH) and the Division of Medical Quality Assurance (MQA), will now review your continuing education records in the electronic tracking system (through CE Broker) when you go to renew your license. This change will occur for all professions licensed under the Department of Health.

When you renew your massage license online, the Department of Health will automatically verify with its electronic tracking system that you completed all of your continuing education requirements.

If your records are up-to-date (all of your hours are completed/entered), you can renew your professional license as usual.

If your records are not up to date (continuing education provider has not reported your hours yet), you will be prompted to report your hours before renewing. You will be guided through this process. Once your continuing education records are complete, you are ready to renew your massage license.

What does this mean?

Quite simply, it means DO NOT wait until the last minute to complete your continuing education requirements!

While Florida approved continuing education providers are required to submit your hours to CE Broker on your behalf, it may take up to 24 hours for providers to input your credits when under heavy work load.

Since you can no longer renew your license without your CE hours being verified by CE Broker, waiting until August 30th or 31st to complete your hours may result in you not being able to renew your license before the deadline.

Visit a the Department of Health’s new site to see more information, or to watch a video about this new process.
